Tourist Map of Yala National Park

Yala is divided into blocks, each with its own character. Block 1 is the best-known leopard territory; Block 5 offers a quieter alternative; the Strict Natural Reserve and Block 2 remain closed to visitors. Kumana National Park lies to the north-east. Use this map to see how the entrances, blocks and neighbouring parks fit together, and to get a sense of distances from Tissamaharama, Katharagama and the Weerawila / Mattala airports.

Getting There

Reaching Sri Lanka's Wild South

Most safaris depart from the Tissamaharama area, close to the Palatupana and Katharagama entrances to Yala, and within easy reach of Bundala. Udawalawe sits further west and is combined into a full-day journey rather than a standalone half-day trip.

Complimentary pickup and drop-off is available within the designated Tissamaharama and park-entrance service areas — let us know your accommodation when you enquire and we'll confirm whether it falls within range.
